The Zetland Foundation is a registered charity which provides support – both financial and moral – for highly talented young people in the Arts. Set up in 2000 as a personal project of The Marquess of Zetland, the charity helps young musicians, actors and dancers through that hugely difficult period which separates raw talent and earning power. So often gifted individuals fade away due to lack of funds and direction and it is this tragic waste that the Foundation strives to prevent.
This website showcases some of the young classical musicians who are connected with us today. Please take a moment to look at their individual pages. You will be astounded at the sheer range of talent that they display. Many of them are performing around the world and we would encourage you to try and attend some of their upcoming events.
The Zetland Foundation offers help to these young people in various guises from financial support to personal mentoring, encouragement and practical assistance. Arranging live performance opportunities is also an important part of the charity’s work because we realise that – no matter how long and hard you may practice – there is nothing quite like the opportunity to perform in front of a live audience. We work with commercial sponsors and private individuals to facilitate appropriate events.
Demand for funds inevitably exceeds supply by a wide margin but the Zetland Foundation exists on a very personal level and is flexible enough to be able to offer immediate and hands-on support to those individuals with whom we become involved. The Foundation is only able to assist a limited number of young people at any one time and we do not have a formal application procedure. However, if you feel that we may be able to help, then please get in touch.
