Hertfordshire born clarinettist, Abi Heath, is a versatile and creative musician. She trained at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where she completed both undergraduate and postgraduate degrees under a scholarship, finishing her postgraduate studies with distinction in 2017.
Abi performs regularly as a freelance musician with various ensembles across the country, performing a wide range of repertoire in a wide range of spaces. She is currently a member of contemporary ensemble, Ret Frem, and new duo, Duo Seula. Recent performances include Britten's War Requiem in Milton Court concert hall, and as the bass clarinettist for a Pre-LSO concert celebrating the work of Anthony Turnage, as well as various concerts celebrating living composers with Ret Frem. Upcoming engagements include curating the music for new festival, Theatre in the Fields, and a series of recitals with her duo. More concert dates can be followed on Abi's website, www.abigailheath.com
Abi works as a community musician, leading creative workshops for children and adults, often without immediate access to music. This work has taken her across the world, most recently to India, Brazil and Holland. She recently qualified as an advanced community music trainer, coordinating training courses for communities in less privileged parts of the world to set up their own community music centres; this work is a joy that allows her to combine music with travel, her two greatest loves!
Abigail's studies have been generously sponsored by the Zetland Foundation, The Leverhulme Trust, The Essex Young Musicians Trust, the Hockerill Educational Trust and the Guildhall School.
