Jessica Zhu

Jessica Zhu is an outstanding young pianist who was born in China but has spent most of her life in the USA. She made her orchestral debut in 2006 as a student of Nancy Weems at the University of Houston when she played Prokoviev’s third Piano Concerto with the Houston Symphony Orchestra. Since then, Jessica has won many prestigious prizes for her performances, including the Hastings International Piano Concerto Competition and the Sussex International Piano Competition.

In 2009, Jessica was awarded the highly coveted Marshall Scholarship, enabling her to take up a Masters programme at the Guildhall School of Music. She is currently on a Fellowship at the Guildhall studying with Paul Roberts and Ronan O’Hora.

Jessica’s recent Wigmore Hall debut – given as part of the Park Lane Group’s Young Artist Series in December 2011– received warm praise from audience and critics alike. She has also played at prestigious venues such as St James’s Piccadily, St Martin-in-the-Fields and the Purcell Rooms.
